September 2007 I got certified as a level 1 instructor with Art Clay Silver (ACS). Pretty much what that means is I get a 35% discount on the clay and I can teach level 1 classes. Believe me, getting the discount is nice. The pendant above was one of the required projects to get certified. You can’t see the pretty colors in the glass very well but dichroic glass gas sort of an opal effect where a layer of shimmery color runs through the glass. The challenge of making the piece was that the silver folded over the edges of the glass are the only thing holding the glass together with the pendant. When the solver clay is fired it shrinks a little and that’s what binds it together. Pretty cool concept I think I may try to use in other pieces I make.
